No Strings Attached...

So tomorrow, out of the blue, $100,000.00 (one hundred thousand U.S.Dollars ~ don't ask me for the current exchange rate) landed in your lap...Tax free & no strings attached to it...What would you do with it?

Me, I'd give it to my brother to pay off his mortgage.

I'd do some serious home remodeling and landscaping, and use some for an April/Easter vacation. The rest would go into the bank and would be lucky to every again see the light of day.

Travel, travel, travel. I'd love to see all of Europe. England, Scotland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy.

Well, I would try to build a new house for my mom. The house she lives in is way too small and needs some help.

Like Nimby, I would use it to go traveling all over the world....I'd love that so much!!

Make my 2011 contribution to my Roth IRA (I know, boring...), finish up some remodeling and maybe splurge on a new TV, sock some into savings and travel with the rest. (Coach? No thanks, I'll take Business Class, please.)

(Thanks for the cash, Guinness. Very generous of you!! :D )

Pay off my car, get a Sub-Zero fridge for my kitchen, and use the rest to go to Argentina and Chile with my partner (in First Class).

I'd dump the lot onto my mortgage so I could get the balance paid off in a year. Then I'd be able to start planning my future a little better.

One of the first things I'd do is see one of the places that's fascinated me all me life: Barrow, Alaska. Stay there a week or so (in the summer with the midnight sun of course), then buy a car that uses little to no gas (hydrogen fuel cell or plug-in hybrid), pay off my defaulted student loans and probably pay the IRS whatever amount they're hounding me for (I'm too afraid to open their mail).

Pay off my mortgage and live on the rest until I find a job and then renovate and save some of it.
