Wow that's a nice one. We had a huge storm last Sunday night at 2 in the morning. Lightning, sheets of rain and wind.

Killed quite a few trees. Mother nature is so entertaining sometimes. :?

Great photo... it could end up in a textbook on what a front looks like up close.

Wow. Chidiver, great shot! That's the same system that hit us here in Toronto I bet. We always get it after you.

Just one of the interesting (and sometimes quite amusing) signs and the idiosyncrasies of 'Indian English'...

Rain shadow.

Image

By Scott Sistek

We've always talked about the rain shadow in relation to how Sequim stays so dry, thanks to the Olympic Mountains.

But how about a more literal rain shadow?

The photo above was taken Wednesday around 11 a.m. by Susan Goodspeed, who works in Airport Operations at Sea-Tac Airport. She says there was a plane there waiting to taxi out to the runway when a heavy shower passed overhead. What you're seeing is the "dry" spot left behind on the pavement when the plane left.

OK, aviation experts, here's your challenge for the day: What type of plane was it? I don't have the answer so I can't say for sure if you are right, but you can see that the jets were running as it was blowing the raindrops away from the jets' wake.

Update: Thanks to our keen readers (see comments below), we think we've narrowed the responsible plane to a Southwest 737 that was heading to Sacramento and then on to Chicago/Midway.

I passed by this example of Ozark culture on a trip to Branson this weekend.

Branson's Main Street is two lanes, and at check out-time, there's quite a logjam. It took a full hour to get from one side of town to the other.

This picture was on my camera when I took the Branson photos off. I don't remember posing for it...

They had a vibrating chair that told you what kind of lover you are. Note the result: passionate. I was hoping for "insatiable," but at least it didn't read "frigid."

Just curious, why? I've heard with some people these piercings are a slippery slope and turn into an additon of sorts. First a few here, and then a few there, and sooner rather than later they resemble Baba's pin cushion.
In the Beginning there was nothing, and God said: 'Let there be Light." There was still nothing, but you could see it.

LOL! Well, I had my ear done 25 years ago and nothing since. I actually hid it from my Baba for a little while, but when she saw it she liked it. Why, well Irene wants to get a small tatoo of a Dafodill of her shoulder (for personal reasons) when she's done her chemo, and wants me to get one with her. Since I don't want another tat yet, I opted for the piercing instead. If it looks dumb, I can take it out and no one's the wiser. See? All figured out.

Awww, Steve. I had a cat that looked just the same. Mine was pure black with yellow eyes too. Shaddow was a great cat.
