Looking for a friend

There's a lot of discussions about "internalized homophobia" going on here. Talk about racism, prejudice, religion, and all that's on your mind. Now you have a new place to gab.

Looking for a friend

Postby EverydayGuy9 » Tue Sep 22, 2009 2:47 am

:D I don't know anyone on here and wouldn't mind hearing about the things that you love, like or hate about being gay. Why don't I find a significant other who makes me feel satisfied inside and out? Are there any REAL men out there who know how to treat a young, inexperienced lover?

If you are looking for someone else to satisfy your needs and wants, you will never be happy because that isn't possible. You will have expectations that no one will ever meet (most likely).

There are so many people out there, most are idiots (Butch says so) and the rest are just as lost in life as you are.

You are growing up, and no one can do it for you... or as it says on page 15 of "The Road Less Traveled"... LIFE IS HARD.
I recommend you read that book... by Scott Peck MD (The Road Less Traveled). It is about dependence and co-dependence and how to avoid it.

You must not expect others to make you happy. Happiness is found in little things, day to day things, and in succeeding with projects and plans. But happiness never lasts. LIFE IS HARD.

When you are young, you may fall in lust with anything wearing pants with a bulge. That will change... by about age 25-35. It depends upon the individual. Some people are sex addicts and will NEVER settle down. There are a lot of sex addicts among gay men.

Being gay is not a rigid set of rules. Just because someone is gay does not mean they won't be a total f**king a-hole. And the stereotypes portrayed by the media make it hard to know just what the heck this gay thing is all about.

You don't have to follow any rules to be gay... nor does anyone else. LIFE IS HARD

There are some older guys who absolutely adore younger guys, but they may not make long term lovers... because they may get tired of you when you "grow up". LIFE IS HARD

Look for people who share your interests. Hanging out with people who have different interests than you will not work... they aren't going to change, no matter what you think.

LIFE IS HARD

If you live in a large city, there may be a Gay Centre. The one in Vancouver is at Bute and Davie Streets (the Qmmunity Centre upstairs from the money mart). Sometimes such a place is a good resource for the very young.

There is no easy answer, and everyone is trying to find "Mr. Right". Few truly succeed, but many find "Mr. Good Enough".

You change. They change. LIFE IS HARD

I hope I've made a point. You may want to visit page 2 of my personal site.

Ja. Good book. I read that after my nervous breakdown in 94. I think he says "life is difficult" right on page 1.

I think the worst thing about being gay is you feel so alone. I see maybe 20 straight couples every day, but usually no gay ones. On a lucky day, I will see one gay couple. And even then you're never quite sure.

On the bright side, things are a bit easier for the younger generation. I grew up in the eighties with the aids hysteria. That was pretty much no fun at all.

I've come to the conclusion we are still living in prehistoric times. Or as Butch said, life is hard. Damn hard. If you find happiness amid all the misery, congrats. You beat the odds.

My turn to be the upper...

...there's someone out there for everyone. I promise. Problem is there's a lot of somebodies out there that aren't for you.

But I found mine. We've been together for over six years and we're still sweet on each other.

You just have to get out there and meet as many people as you can. That is what I'm trying to do right now.
