Homopgobia in disguise?

So I have this friend who thinks sh'e pretty cool and liberal and all that stuff. The topic of gays kissing came up recently and she said that she doesn't care, as long as she doesn't have to took at it. I asked her if she had a problem with seeing straights kissing, or two girls kissing, and she replied not at all, but the sight of two guys kissing? Would rather not see it. When I questioned this logic, she said it's not the same thing. I persisted a little and she took offence that I thought she was a homophobe, which she swears she isn't, just a personal preference and doesn't want to see male on male PDAs in public. Is that not a form of homophobia, or am I way off the mark here?

I'd say homophobe. What ever anyone's convictions are, be it sexuality, politics etc. There should be no exceptions.

She may not actually BE a homophobe. It's weird, I'm gay n all that.. but I am sort of the same in that, guy/girl, girl/girl, kissing I could care less... guy/guy I could care less as well, BUT.. I still do a double take when I see it [I can DO it lol] but seeing it happen in public or on TV I will admit I do a double take.. then kinda go "ohh.. ya sofaking what???" and move on to new thought lol. But, say, I am home watching Pron [porn] guys going at it is normal to me.. it's seeing it on TV and in public I am like "huh???" cause it's still not often.. thats all.

It's that all of us have been conditioned by society that guy/guy just doesn't happen because we rarely see it in average life situations, and we need to start seeing more of it on TV shows [Like One Life to Live has the balls to do - I salute them] and other programs... but again, there is a certain part of the media that almost always gets the guy on guy stuff wrong, because the characters ['cept OLTL - again thumbs up] are screamingly waaaay out there on the fringes,instead of just regular types of guy who you'd assume straight, but are gay.

A true homophobe would seriously just not want you around...

HOWEVER...... there are pretenders that say they don't mind, while inside they are thinking "get this weirdo/pervert out of my life" like my old boss at my Job at Tim Hortons. I worked there 11 years and my being gay was a BIG issue for her once she finally found out, heck even before she knew.. She used to ask other employees if I was gay behind my back... at the end in about 2006 it got really bad, it took took about 1 1/2 years and they harassed me out the door........ they unjustly fired a Lesbian girl [good friend of mine...firing her unjustly was last straw - I quit in support of HER and went on a medical/sick leave for 6 months then quit] for wearing an engagement ring, while straights could wear 1 pc of jewelery like wedding ring or engmnt. We tried reporting her to head office, the human rights woman we were put in contact with and sent multiple emails to, never replied to them!!!!!! Well I quit, applied for & wrote EI explaining everything, even tho I QUIT, I got 1 year full EI benefits no questions asked, we also wrote gov't human rights, there was a couple meetings, the owner of the Hortons was fined and the Lesbian girl awarded lost wages... I quit so the human rights people said i'd have to file a civil suit.. I couldn't be bothered..

Anyways, I just want to tell you that she may be a homophobe but, just might not be used to men kissing... and isn't. You know her better than me. Tread w/ caution or if your gut tells you to dump her do it.

I don't think that homophobia is really accurate. I don't particularly like watching two women kiss. I'm okay if two women in love kiss and I will generally have an "awww, that's nice" reaction when I see it, but the whole two women kissing in an erotic kind of way turns me off and I generally look away when I see it. I think it's just personal preference and I don't read too much more into it. I have the same reaction when it comes to the elderly (my grandparents age bracket). If I see an elderly married couple kiss in a romantic way, I think it is sweet. If I were to see an elderly couple kiss in an erotic way, I don't know if my brain could handle it and I'd have to look away.

My straight roomate doesn't like to see guys kissing. When you think about it, kissing can be a much more intimate act than even sex can be. Think about it. Many guys have sex and don't kiss. It's when they kiss you that you know they're for real!

Well, she has no problem watching straights kiss affectionaltly, or two women kiss affectionately, just two men. Well, what ever. Just a preference I guess. Bu I really do like your last line. I guess I'm for real then.

I'm not sure I can say its homophobia. My reasoning is because I have no issue watching a straight couple kiss; and obviously no objections with two men, but I don't like to see to women kiss. I don't have any bad will towards lesbians. It just really rubs me the wrong way when I see it. I'm not even sure what to call it.
