I don't think that homophobia is really accurate. I don't particularly like watching two women kiss. I'm okay if two women in love kiss and I will generally have an "awww, that's nice" reaction when I see it, but the whole two women kissing in an erotic kind of way turns me off and I generally look away when I see it. I think it's just personal preference and I don't read too much more into it. I have the same reaction when it comes to the elderly (my grandparents age bracket). If I see an elderly married couple kiss in a romantic way, I think it is sweet. If I were to see an elderly couple kiss in an erotic way, I don't know if my brain could handle it and I'd have to look away.nimby wrote:So I have this friend who thinks sh'e pretty cool and liberal and all that stuff. The topic of gays kissing came up recently and she said that she doesn't care, as long as she doesn't have to took at it. I asked her if she had a problem with seeing straights kissing, or two girls kissing, and she replied not at all, but the sight of two guys kissing? Would rather not see it. When I questioned this logic, she said it's not the same thing. I persisted a little and she took offence that I thought she was a homophobe, which she swears she isn't, just a personal preference and doesn't want to see male on male PDAs in public. Is that not a form of homophobia, or am I way off the mark here?
