When it happens, will it cause me to spill my drink?

Did you know that you can cause water to boil with ice?

Heat a flask with water to a boil. Remove the heat source. Once the water has stopped boiling, seal the top. Apply ice to the top portion of the flask. The water will boil a second time. This happens because water boils at lower temperatures when the pressure is lower. When you seal off the container, a certain amount of pressure is inside the flask. As you apply the ice, it cools the water vapor, lowering the pressure in the flask. As the pressure lowers, the temperature needed to boil the water is reduced.

One of the reasons recipes have to be adjusted for altitude.

I don't think I'd make it that far... hiccups are kind of a mood killer.

They are. But I meant it in a more medicinal way. Next time you have hiccups just take a few minutes out for some 'private time' and you'll be amazed . . . bam . . . just like that, they'll stop . . . just leaving you to clean up and carry on with your life. Sorry, was that too much information? heh hehe . ..

Hic! Ah hold on a sec.....oh that's better. Did you know Winona, Arizona no longer exists? It's part of Flagstaff. It's mentioned in the Route 66 song.

....that all the big strip casinos in Las Vegas are actually in Paradise, Nevada, not Las Vegas?

I'm not so sure now - how can I see someone hiccuping without thinking of ejaculation? And one thought can lead to another.

Belo Horizonte means "beautiful horizon" in Portugeese? I thought maybe the name had something to do with their position on the 20 degree latitude line. It's a city in Brazil.

Alcan, what used to be the aluminum company of Canada sent me and 25 sailors on a trip to the interior of Brazil at their expense, while I was in the Navy navigating a repair ship.

Great trip, good good, lots of beer.

We visited and stayed overnight in Belo Horizonte.

Rival luxury car brands Cadillac and Lincoln were both founded - Cadillac first - by the same man, Henry M. Leland?

Well, they're still trying to get the largest atom smasher ever built to work.

Some think it might generate a localised black hole that will eventually destroy planet Earth.

Yahtzee was invented by a B.C. couple who played it on their yacht. They sold their idea to what later became the Milton Bradley company in 1956.

I would have to say Yahtzee is my favorite board game of all time. You can play it solitaire, electronically, or in a group. It's sort of like poker, except with dice. Oh and you can play online now, too.

Back to 'educationally improving' did you knows...

I was chatting to this person from the Royal Observatory (as in GMT), and she was saying their latest effort is to map the galaxy using Greenwich as a space-type meridian.

They're encouraging people to send pics in, and developed a programme that trawls the net for space images, identify their location, and then place them in a 3D map relative to Greenwich.
There've been a few glitches, and some images need to be confirmed as space pics (eg. if there were a few points of bright light on Prince Willy's willy, he could end up pixelated all over Pleiades)

DYK that if Betelgeuse goes supernova, as most Astronomers predict will happen soon (give or take a million years or so), it will appear in our sky larger than a full moon and shine brighter than a royal willie being caught on film for the first time?

The guy who started YouTube did so because he wanted to upload a dinner party video and there was no website for that purpose.

That was in 2005. In 2007, he sold it to Google for $1.6 billion.

Actually it was two guys. Chad Hurley and Steve Chen.
