Agreed. One of the reasons I like Star Trek is that it doesn't [usually] take itself too seriously. There was quite a bit of humor on the Voyager series.

Now that the movie has been out for a couple of weeks, what do you think of it?

I was amazed at how the actor that played Dr. McCoy had replicated DeForest Kelly's speech mannerisms so well.

Spock and Uhura as a couple? Really? Well, ok.

Simon Pegg also made a fine Scotty.

They really exagerated Chekov's accent but I feel that was for comedic effect and it worked.

I liked how they portrayed Captain Pike as someone Kirk could look up to and respect. Kinda like a father figure for Kirk. Which fits into why Kirk was willing to put his career on the line for Pike in "The Cage" episodes.

It would not surprise me if they made more movies using the same cast in this time frame.

Question: the actor that played Sulu, is he the same guy that was in Harold and Kumar go to White Castle? I think it was.

I am going to have to see this again!

One more thing, to see the USS Enterprise (no friggin A, B, C, D or E) in a battle wih phasers firing and photon torpedos blasting away at the bad guys was friggin awesome!

I agree with you on many of your points. But I have to say Karl Urban ,the guy playing Dr McCoy, is so much better looking than Chris Pine. I was never aware of him 'till this movie.

Star Trek XII

Postby olywaguy » Sat May 11, 2013 11:53 am

Well, Star Trek XII is upon us soon. Am looking forward to seeing Star Trek: Into Darkness. Looks to be exciting.

Saw Zachary Quinto (Spock) on Bill Maher last night where Bill asked him about being an out gay actor. He was sporting a different kind of haircut (must be doing a movie).
