The Big Band Era...

Postby Guinness Fan » Tue Jan 19, 2016 6:40 pm

The history buff/nerd in me is coming out...

Spent the evening on YouTube...I'm a huge fan of "Big Band Era" music...Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Gene Krupa, The Andrews Sisters...The style, the rhythm, the voices & the pure sound of the instrumentals. Class, Style...but now woefully out of fashion.

Tommy Dorsey, "Opus One": https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=8N2aEmcEbyg
Glenn Miller, "In The Mood": https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=FAQgXPTekOU
". ". , "Moonlight Serenade": https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ZuVfmfaNupQ
Artie Shaw, "Begin the Beguine": https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=pCXVxE_YeP4

Etc, etc...Pity...I've got a perfectly good tux just waiting to hit the dance floor...

Sorry...just geezing.

Absolutely love Artie Shaw's version of Begin the Beguine! And seeing the Andrews Sisters.....who were huge sex symbols in the '40's...my, how times have changed...

Those were some of my records, that I have converted to digital and I am glad they bring back memories. The Andrews Sisters have been my favorites since I discovered them at 15. I also love Glenn Miller and Harry James.
