About half-way through "The Princes of Ireland; The Dublin Saga" by Edward Rutherfurd...EXCELLENT. I'm not much on historical fiction, but anything by Rutherfurd has ALWAYS been fantastic....Highly recommended.

Have just finished "Dos Equis" by Anthony Bidulka, Saskatoon native. Another murder mystery. Not bad.

"The Western Front, 1914-1918" by John Terraine...First published in 1964 and republished in 2003. Living in Europe with the 100th anniversary of the First World War fast approaching (August)...I've been reading all I can on the subject and visting all the WWI battlefields and memorials that I can...Lest We Forget.........The interesting / disheartening thing is that my European colleagues - who should be interested in such topics - can't be bothered/not interested....

Just finished "The Last Town" by Blake Crouch, third (and likely last) in the Wayward Pines series. Not bad but a bit predictable if you'd read the other two.

I have a copy of the 1936 version of Little Lord Fauntleroy starring Freddie Bartholomew, Mickey Rooney and Dolores Costello Barrymore (Drew Barrymore's grandmother).

As a result, I started reading the book by Frances Hodgson Burnett. I'm reading it via my Kindle (a Christmas gift from mom and younger sister). I would really like to see a good modern rendition of the book. Yes, I know there have been many remakes of the movie including one starring Ricky Schroeder.

I'm having fun reading it.

My husband got a publishing contract for his murder mystery... details to come! But it's gay oriented fiction that is NOT thinly disguised porn... stand by!

Matters are still under the non-disclosure part of the contract, but I promise I'll be loud about it as soon as the PR packet splits itself open!

Release date is tentatively February 2016 for Final Departure. My hubby took down his FB author page because it's a royal PITA to maintain; I'll post the URL to his author's blog soon.

Carp. I knew I posted it somewhere that I forgot to corral. The book will be on the shelves in February of next year. His author's blog is still pretty quiet ATM.

Living overseas again I thought I'd connect with my American roots... especially with American Independence Day just around the corner... I'm just finishing up "Miracle at Philadelphia" by Catherine Drinker Bowen,,,initially published in 1966. It's a riviting (no BS) account of the Constitutional Convention of 1787...

The Battle of the Somme took place 100 years ago last month - so, living here in the Balkans where WWI began, I've been reading up on WWI history. "Boy Soldiers of the Great War" by Richard Van Emden" was a fascinating & depressing read. Imagine kids as young as 15 volunteering for the army, serving at the Front & going over the top... Lest We Forget...

SHAMELESS PROMOTION, PART II: Final Departure has a sequel, and it has been accepted for publication. Details TBA; in the mean time, here's where to find my husband's first murder mystery...

Hey, I *warned* you it was shameless. :D

Meanwhile, just finished "Midcentury Christmas." A well-illustrated encyclopedia of all things Christmas-kitschy from the middle of last century.
