Job Interviews

Postby olywaguy » Fri Aug 01, 2014 10:28 pm

I'm really unhappy at my current job. I've been on the lookout for a new position for a very long time. A few weeks ago, I finally got a bite.

I had applied for a position as bilingual outreach coordinator at a public library in the Oregon coast. So, I sent my application and I get a reply from them. They sent me a word document with questions they want me to answer. Took me a couple of days...must've done well because they then asked to interview me via Skype. Dressed up like I would for any interview from head to toe. Went well, because now they have asked me to come for an in-person interview. I am one of four finalists attending. The other three are from Alaska, Montana, and Oklahoma. I'm leaving for the Oregon coast this Sunday (six hour drive) and will be interviewing on Monday and Tuesday. I will be the first interview on each day.

I really want this job. It entails making contact with the community, taking books to older folks who live in retirement homes or are unable to leave their home. The kind of job that really makes a different.

So send me some prayers and positive thoughts please.
Carlos

Good luck. I toured the Oregon coast in 1992. Newport was my favorite town.

Good luck, Carlos! The Oregon Coast is a beautiful place at any time of the year.

(Newport is awesome... Rogue River Brewery's root beer, oh my...)

I was one of the finalists, but someone else got hired.

I recently applied to two other positions. Got their rejection email a couple of days ago within minutes of each other.

Will continue to look into I find something better.

I'm looking at a job description for a job located in McKinney, TX. I know we have a few here that live in TX.
The town is north of Dallas...about half an hour away. What's it like there, what's the cost of living like there compared to Dallas. The job is offering a hiring salary of $ 36,083.25 - $ 44,201.85 annually. Is that enough?

Any information you may have would be greatly appreciated
