Looks like we still have a way to go in the gangsta world.

I wouldn't get too complacent with all the Marriage victories.

So, if a gay guy messes with a girl...all he has to do is say "no straight" and it never happened?

I've heard that phrase many MANY times before. Mainly from younger people in high school and in college. Its pretty ridiculous

This is another manifestation of the hyper-masculine insecurity from the hip hop world...They want to admire masculine traits but not be labeled gay..I see this when young masculine

It's not as much a gangsta or hip-hop thing as it is a general Black thing. Seems to me there are 3 things that explain all the homophobia coming from the Black community: (1) the influence of the Black Church, (2) the importance of masculinity, and (3) the role of the family. I see it every day. I blame the Black churches first.

Just my 2 cents.
In the Beginning there was nothing, and God said: 'Let there be Light." There was still nothing, but you could see it.

I've had it explained to me this way from a Jamaican....

In the black communities a black man gains status in the community by the number of children he has with as many as different women as possible. The more offsprings he has from multiple women, the higher his status. Gays don't produce offsprings, so no status.
