What Did You Do Last Weekend?

Postby Guinness Fan » Tue Jun 30, 2015 5:21 pm

A bit of a take-off on "Your Daily Blog"...but I've not seen any new entries, hence a new post.

So, to kick-start a new thread...

Q. What did you do this past weekend?

A. I spent a long weekend in Dublin. Met up with some old work-mates for a long-planned weekend reunion focused on drinking Guinness..Little did we know it was Gay Pride Week in Dublin...A bit (OK ~ a lot) over the top for me...Thankfully we arranged for some out of the city excursions... Dublin isn't my favourite city in Europe to begin with...Pride didn't help...

And you?

My brother didn't care for Dublin either. He said their airport is clogged up worse than New York!

I left early friday and spent the entire weekend foolin' around with my fella. Antiquing, estate sales, casinos and evenings by the fire are the norm.

^ Antiquing and estate sales ~ man, I miss that stuff! I used to do that quite frequently whilst living in the UK, elsewhere in Europe, Asia and the US...You just don't see that stuff here in the Balkans. The stuff you do see is Tito / Soviet era memorabilia/ kitschy touristy stuff. I've asked the locals,,,and they're just not into it...After a couple World Wars, a Socialist State for 40+ years and a war that boiled down to forced migration/ethnic cleansing...there ain't much old stuff left...it was either destroyed or thrown out and forgotten.
