I've often said that the most useful course I took in high school was typing...I learned on both manual and electric typewriters...Nothing beats the feel and sound of a typewriter...and proper finger placement on the "home row" keys; ASDF JKL... I consider myself a fast and accurate typist ~ both hands on the keyboard ~ no "hunt & peck" two finger style that I see a lot of guys using nowadays.

So, if you had to take a 1 minute typing test, how would you do?

My speed hasn't changed much since high school....I'm about 35 - 40 wpm...just enough to do my research papers and office work.

I took typing during my senior year in high school because I knew I was going to need that for college. They were still using typewriters when I went to college (1983 - 1985, 1987 - 1989, plus additional coursework).

I agree, it was the most useful course that I ever took in high school.

I just took your typing test and got a 51 wpm with no errors. Wow, that's the absolute best I've ever done!!

80 wpm - 5 error = 75 wpm adjusted. It's 5:45 am and I've only had 1/2 cup of coffee.

I got 49 with two errors so 47 adjusted. I took it a couple times and that was my best one. I remember the proper way to type being taught in school but I never used that way. I use my own method which works for me. It may not be the proper way to type, but I think I type fairly well.

68 WPM, no errors. And that's with looking at the keys, despite what my typing teacher told me.

I'm embarrassed to post this.

18 wpm adjusted.

In my defense: it's early, I've got arthritis in my left hand; plus I'm from an era where things were handwritten. Hunt, peck, and curse is my usual tactic.

In my high school, typing was offered only to the girls, along with home ec. I had to take shop class. I can't type fast, but I have a full workshop at home with dozens of cool tools and I know how to use every one 8) .

In other words, 32 words/minute adjusted.
