Blond for a day

Postby J » Thu Jul 22, 2010 9:40 pm

Just for the hell of it, I bleached my hair. Then dyed it back to its "normal" black. Can you tell I took the pic of myself?

Anyway, thought you'd find this amusing. It's the first and last pic of me with bleached hair.

Blond is fun.

It's quite strange seeing one's self in the mirror the first time with altered hair colour. I liked being blond.

I bleached my hair blond (with the help of a friend who was a hair stylist) and it took a lot of peroxide since my hair didn't take easily to bleaching. It was way back in the late 80's when it wasn't yet fashionable to do... I'm always ahead of the trends it seems. At the time I was playing on an adult hockey team of straight guys who didn't know I was gay and I took a bit of a ribbing for it... but I was their captain and they seemed to like me because of my outgoing personality. I wasn't in the habit of taking lip from anyone and I took the jibes in good humour.

If all my stuff weren't packed up in preparation of my move (one of these days) I'd show you a photo of me as a blond in my hockey gear.

Actually Jeff, It doesn't look too bad. It seems to accentuate your German ancestry. Put a Nazi uniform on you and you'd look like Rolfe from Sound of Music. :P

Nothing ventured nothing gained. I tried the same thing once, however I found the bottle black was not the same as my natural black which was also strange to me. At least in the way I looked. I kept it, the lesser of two evils you know.

I did that my first year in college.
Went home at Thanksgiving with pitch black.
Home at Christmas as a platinum blonde.
They came up to visit me in Feb for my birthday and I was a redhead.

Actually I don't think I have any German ancestry. I'm a total mutt. As far as I know, these are my nationalities:
1) Irish (Northern Ireland)
2) Danish
3) Norweigan
4) UK (yep, Mayflower descendent. John Alden is a distant great grandfather of mine).
5) Icelandic
6) Swedish
7) Finnish

And yet I have rather dark features (tan, eyes, hair).

It's amazing what the genetic dice will roll sometimes, isn't it?

None the less, you're still cute as a blonde.
