Butch wishes you all a happy holiday, whatever it is you are taking the day off to do.

Butch is going to cook a turkey tomorrow. You should be laughing.

Butch isn't known for his culinary skills.
Rocket science is more his line.

Butch... if you're deep-frying the turkey, be sure to submerge it slowly, cavity end up... or you WILL combine cooking with rocket science as it launches itself into the ceiling.

But seriously, best of luck to you, and happy holiday of your choice (up to and including none of the above, if you prefer).

Actually, having never cooked a turkey via deep-fry, I shouldn't be offering advice. I do know you need to lower it slowly, though.

Sheesh... 6:22 AM and I've been up for nearly an hour on Christmas morning. I don't even have kids. Oh well... Merry Christmas all.

I'm up early too. Once I wake up I can't go back to sleep.

Checked on the turkey... it seems to be thawing out OK. I got one that is frozen and pre-stuffed, since my last venture into making a stuffing was a disaster. Just plan to slow roast the sucker and toss in a yam to bake as well.

I originally got the bird because the crazy lady down the hall wanted me to come and have "Christmas" with here with one of her fozen "better meals"... it's a delivery service of bland food for elders... meals. That was too scary for me, so I got a bird and told her I'd cook a Christmas dinner, then she went into the hospital the same evening I got the bird. Oh well... something about "the best laid plans yada yada".

Went to see her at the hospital yesterday. She's in an assessment ward and definitely there 'till at least the end of January. She's not in good shape and might not come home again. She's quite the nut case but well intentioned. She's about to be 73 and madly in love with me. Oh well. Not the first woman to chase me. It will be a break for me... not having her call me several times a day for one thing, or another. She knows I'm completely retiring in April and will be leaving the building, so that's likely not helping her mental health. But I want to be able to be the complete recluse that I am and not have to worry about whether the halls are clean, or the grass it cut, etc. No one to tell me what to do again... ever. I'm going to miss the cheap rent. I pay $300 a month for an apartment that, in my area, would go for about $1,200 a month. In Vancouver, $800 a month is considered cheap rent... and hard to find.

So... I guess it's lots of turkey sandwiches and soup for me for the next week.
