Do group meet-ups ever happen?

Postby WED » Sun Nov 08, 2009 5:53 pm

I was wondering if people from this board ever organize get togethers when members live in the same area?

Though it's been a while, the answer is yes. Over the years there have been get togethers in Austin, Boston, LA, New Orleans, Houston, Dallas, and Las Vegas. Some have tried to organize other places, but they never quite pulled it off. There have also been small groups meet up while traveling, either business or vacation. It's not a regular thing, but it do happen from time to time.

ouch! i have been to two: normen's birthday party at hamburger mary's in long beach and the big 'do in vegas back in 2004 or so. mini-meets like when joebob was here a few years ago and we had lunch with camilo, or when matt and i met up with alex in camarillo.

i helped plan vegas. it's somebody else's turn. my advice: don't go for consensus -- nobody will agree with everything. set a date, set a place, announce it widely, hold firm on details, and follow through with showing up.

Nimby if you guys do the Falls again, I will be in this time. Heck if I am going to be down that way and you wanna meet up for lunch or whatever that would be cool too.

Yeah, It'd be good to have a full blown SA get together in Niagara Falls. There's so much to so. Maybe we can shoot for next year sometime. I might be down that wat in march for march break. I'll let you know as the time gets closer. :D .

Sorry, Dr. Dan, but I have to ask - why on earth would anyone go to Camarillo?

The whole point of living there was to get out and leave.

A very small meet up.
Like a bad penny, some things just keep coming back.

outlet mall. several years ago, too.

here ya go: Vegas Fri-Sun Dec 11-13. We'll be there. If anybody else wants to meet up, let me know. We're going to Garth Brooks at the Wynn on Friday night. Other than that, we're unencumbered.

JoJo and I have mulled the idea of putting together a meet-up.
But I've been a bad neighbor for not visiting the other PacNW members while in PDX. Something to correct this summer, I'm sure.

APRIL 22-25, 2010

Postby doctor dan » Thu Mar 18, 2010 11:01 pm

Here we go... A small group (10-14) of us *ehem* mature gay guys (30-50s) are going to Las Vegas for three days -- April 22-25. I don't know everybody, as it's coordinated by a friend of mine, who invited a bunch of his friends I do not know. Anywho... There are two definite group events planned: a dinner and a block one evening to take over some blackjack tables to play together (and hopefully break the house). Otherwise, it's individual or smaller group stuff based on who gets along with whom I guess. We're all staying at hotels on the monorail, from the Sahara to the MGM and everywhere between, so group things will happen along that route. 3-day monorail tickets are $14, hotel rooms as as low as $29 (Sahara and Monte Carlo).

Among non-gaming entertainment possibilities that weekend: Lion King, Copperfield, Divas Las Vegas (formerly La Cage), Jay Leno stand-up, Cher, then the regular shows like all the Cirque du Soliel shows, like Penn & Teller, Carrot Top, Frank Caliendo, George Wallace, Rita Rudner, Wayne Newton, Lance Burton, Phanton, Jersey Boys, etc.

If you are going to be in Vegas during that time and would like to meet up, please let me know. If you're looking for a weekend getaway and might like to meet some new friends, join in. Totally informal and loose. You're all invited!
