SA.com gathering?

Postby chidiver » Sun Jun 28, 2009 1:21 pm

I'm wondering if it might be time for another get together. The last one was almost two years ago in Dallas. While there was talk about a Seattle gathering, I guess that the wheels fell off and it never happened. My thought was that we may want to go north of the border and was thinking that Toronto might be a good location. It is a hub airport, central for pretty much everyone east of the Mississippi and we have at least two active members in the metro area. Also throw in the fact that the Hockey Hall of Fame is located there and we might attract a couple more members.

Thoughts?

while i love TO as much as the next guy, i think the entertainment opportunities, relatively cheap hotel rooms, and excellent transportation system in a place like las vegas are more conducive to a herd of cats like sa.com members. we had one there about 5-6 years ago with the largest crowd of any of the meet ups. i would do vegas again. TO, probably not. just my 2¢.

It's been years since I've been to Vegas...I'd give some serious consideration to a weekend get-away...

Actually Kansas City would be the fair choice. It's sort of the de facto geographical center of North America. Or maybe Denver. And get this folks: Toronto is in the middle of a stinky garbage strike!

I wouldn't mind seeing the Russell Stover candy factory in Kansas City. :P

Yea, Toronto is getting pretty ripe. Now that they've loaded up parts of our waterfront with trash, they're going to start using the public parks. Great for tourism. Bastards.

To be honest, the appeal of Las Vegas is lost on me. That said, I probably would attend, especially if it were in the winter and I could go skiing during the day. K.C. is fine by me too, I do luv the BBQ.

I'd do Vegas. I've never been. As long as what on on in Vegas stays in Vegas :D .

LOL!!! I just did the pilgrimage to the Tesla exhibits in Niagara a few months ago!!! My daughter did a school project on him. I'd love to meet you when you come. I'll be on vacation late August, so depending when you come it'll work our great. Just let me know when you're comming. Have you been to TO before? Anything you wanna see? Just be forwarned, there is a garbage strike on here and it's not as nice as it usually is. But Niagara is still beautiful.

Cheers!

If you guys are going to be in the Niagara area then, I might load up the dirt bike and head that way to do some riding... There is a awesome Pizza place in Port Colborne, about 20 mins west of Fort Erie on Hwy3. I'd be down for lunch or whatever.

In late August John and I are driving up to Buffalo to attend an event, cross over into Canada and do some salmon fishing, and then drive through Ontario until we end up in Niagara Falls to make our annual pilgrimage to the Nikola Tesla exhibits. We will certainly spend at least a day in Toronto. Maybe we can at least have lunch. Not sure it would qualify as an SA gathering, especially since John hasn't a clue was SA.com is, but it would certainly be nice meeting you in person.
