Computer Problems

Postby olywaguy » Fri Jun 05, 2015 10:48 pm

I am hoping someone out there can help me out....my computer is driving me crazy.

I think I made the mistake of downloading something that may have include some malware because ever since then, every time i try to open up my Firefox browser (latest edition), all kinds of ads pop up and fill up my screen.

I've gone to the Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel but they keep popping up. I've gone to the Firefox plug-ins to remove them, they still pop up. I've gone onto Safe Mode, they still keep on coming...Tried Last Known Good Configuration, I am still getting bombarded. I've gone to the C drive under Program Files to uninstall...there it is still. It is driving me crazy. When I open a new tab, it gives me www-searching.com instead of a blank page.

Right now, I am using Chrome and it is better than Firefox at not getting bombarded.

Would it work if I uninstalled Firefox and re-installed it?

Any advice you may have would be greatly appreciated.
Carlos

Carlos -
Good luck...been there, done that...and had to get a 20-something IT guy at the office to fix whatever I did... If it helps, I can swear at the thing in about a dozen different languages.

I have a mallet you can borrow.... won't fix the problem, but it might make you feel better.

Carlos; In light of (or in spite of) all the great advice you've received (swearing at it, taking a mallet it it, buying a new one), what was the outcome?

I downloaded Malwarebytes. It seemed to do a good job of getting at it. No problems with Chrome but still some problems with Firefox.
