People can choose to add both MEN and WOMEN. That is how you know they are bi.

Exactly. One can mark married to or in a relationship with somebody, or just the notation without naming the other. But if they're "looking" and already married or in a relationship with somebody, they would not likely say they were married or in a relationship with somebody. That might turn off the unsuspecting target.

I do not have a Facebook account and most of my friends neither have one. I actually do not see the necessity in such an account. If I want to stay in contact with somebody I call him/her or write him/her an email. I do not need Facebook for this purpose. Until now this works very good for me. I do not like Facebook and I do not think that I will change my opinion on this issue soon. Maybe some time in the future it won't be possible to stay in contact without Facebook but as long as it works I will not create my own Facebook account.

Why would a straight person not include such information on their profile?

I tend to assume that when there isn't a response that they might gay.

Nah, I don't think so. I think that most people (me included) who leave that field blank do so because they don't use Facebook as a means to meet new people. We just use it to reconnect with, and stay connected to, already-existing friends and acquaintances. Most of my Facebook friends, gay or straight, leave that question blank as well.

We've been missing you Joe. Where did you disappear to? What's been going on with you lately?
