Gay Bachelor

Postby Phoenix6570 » Fri Aug 20, 2010 8:11 am

I think we're all familiar with the Bachelor type shows. One man or woman picks through 12 or more hopefuls to find perfect love. I have yet to see a completely gay take on this. If you had the chance to be a part of the show as a contestant, fighting it out for your dream guy would you take part? Please explain why either way, because I think its fairly interesting. Also do you think its ever possible for a real relationship to come out of something like this?

The whole premise is pretty odd in my book so I already know what my answer is. I'll wait a while and see what others have to say.

I don't watch those kinds of shows and don't really know what they are about so I'm not really qualified to pass judgment,
nor do I understand why anyone with any intelligence would watch a show like that.

I seriously doubt I would EVER meet anyone in whom I would have any interest of any kind in this way.

The very idea is actually a kind of turn off for me but I've reached an age where I've more or less lost interest in meeting anyone anyway.
It could work for some people but I think it would be a matter of luck and the odds are only slightly better than winning the lottery.

There was such a show like that...it was called Boy Meets Boy .

The premise was not only to meet the guy of your dreams but there was a hook. Half of the guys were gay and the other half were straight. If he selected the gay guy in the final round, they would live happily ever after together with all the prizes and such. If he selected the straight guy, he would get all the prizes and the bachelor left on the lurch with nothing...no guy, no prizes. Of course they didn't announce this hook until the second or third show.

It went off the air due to protests from people about gay dating, etc. You can find episodes on YouTube. The show is also available via Netflix.

There was a show here a while ago called "Playing it Straight" where a girl lived with 12 guys. 6 were gay, 6 were straight but she didn't know this until the 2nd day. After going on a million dates and slowly leting some go until there was only 2 left, she picked a straight guy they both won the prize money, if she picked a gay guy she lost an he got the prize money.

I actually watched the show on YouTube a few months ago. For reality TV it's actually quite good!

That was the exact premise of Boy Meets Boy. The only difference it was done with a straight woman. The audience accepted that but won't accept a man dating another man.

What would be hilarious on such a show (boy meets boy) would be if the suitor claimed, at the out-start, he didn't like anyone and "get me a new batch of men".

That would make for good entertainment... particularly if they had to go through several hundred me to find anyone the suitor was interested in.

But I like the idea of the straight men in the mix... that would perk my interest and I would wonder why a truly straight man would even get involved in such a show.
