Weinergate...

Postby nimby » Fri Jun 10, 2011 2:38 pm

So Congressman Weiner got caught with his pants down. It's not like he's the first politician to get caught fooling around, but this is the no sex sex scandal. Is it really that big of a deal? Almost identical incident happened at the same time with a Canadian MP from Niagara, George Lepp accidentally posted dic pics to twitter (http://www.nowtoronto.com/daily/news/st ... ent=180934). After trying to cover it up, he fessed up too. His excuse? "I got a new camera and was fooling around with it. Sorry." Barely made the news here. Why is your Weiner bigger news then ours? Besides it's not like his wie is too miffed. Rumors are that she is Hillary Clinton's secret lover and they have been tied together for yers now. Even Weiner knew they were lovers as he courted her. Google it for yourself. So what's the big deal?

We in the U.S. are a bunch of prudes. Thank God I'm so close to Vancouver for the occasional reality check.

Wiener's constituents want him to stay in office...56% want him to stay in office. So, it is not a big deal to them.

Gee I didn't know Hillary was a lesbian. My first impression of her was "man, what a bitch", though. :P

Then I felt sorry for her during the whole cheating thing but maybe that's just how their marriage "works".

As with Bill, it's not what Weiner did with his weiner....it's that he blatantly LIED about it. But yeah in the grand scheme of things, who cares....

It's a useful and convenient distraction from things that matter more. Our political leaders and their accomplices in the media would like nothing better than to take the American focus off what might be important. Here are just two examples of things they'd like Americans not to think about:

1. How the dumbass from Texas, George W. Bush and the Republican-controlled Congress at that time managed to turn a $236 billion surplus into a $1.3 trillion deficit. And they want to continue the same policies if given the opportunity.

2. As of today, there are 4,463 U.S. military deaths since Bush initiated the Iraq war in 2003, and we're still counting. (Source: http://www.defenselink.mil/news). I don't know the number killed in Afghanistan, but best estimates of the cost of U.S. wars since 2001 exceed $1.2 trillion. And we don't even think about paying for them. Maybe we can take it out of the the hides of those old folks on Medicare and Social Security?

Who wants to talk about stuff like that when instead we can be speculating about Weiner's wiener?

The U.S. is so seriously fucked.
In the Beginning there was nothing, and God said: 'Let there be Light." There was still nothing, but you could see it.

Weiner quit today. Was that really necessary?

Well, without the support of the Democratic leadership, he couldn't raise any money for his re-election. I don't think he should've quit either.
