Does anyone here have a fag hag?

Well?

Do straightacting men and bears even have fag hags?

That would not be very straightacting would it? But more stereotypical, as in needing a woman to accompany them in public at gay events to be their mommychaparrone. Now a "beard" would tend to be more of what a straightacting guy might have, if they need to be seen with a woman in public and an obligatory straight event. It can get kinda blurry between the two extremes as some women could serve both purposes..

I would never give a woman the privilege of knowing about my personal life. It's none of their business. Now if I was a couple with someone, it would be different because there would be a circle of mutual friends in the know about our situation. But as long as I am single, I am not discussing my exploits or lack thereof with a woman.

Nope I've never even heard that term before.

So what is the situation with you and her? How much does she know and not know? If she knows, what are the arrangements and why did she stay?

It's not perfect, but lets say that she is much cooler than I actually deserve. It works both ways for BOTH of us. Some people here don't like me discussing it , so I won't, but PM me if you want.

My favorite fag hag was actually someone I never met. She was an old lady from Long Island. We met in Yahoo chat, and then became pen pals for several years. We were soul mates.

She passed away in December 2003. I've missed her every day since. :(

I have a few really good 'girl' friends, but they are not hags. In fact, all of them did not suspect I was gay when we became friends.

One thing I was not prepared for when I came out, was how every female friend I had automatically thought that me telling them I was gay made us best friends. It's almost like my female friends couldn't wait to have a gay best friend; maybe it's trendy or something.

I had to back off after one of them invited me to a chick flick and the paint-your-own-pottery place. I felt like saying, "I wouldn't do that even if I was interested in you letting me sleep with you."

I occasionally feel like it's trendy to have a 'pet homo' or something. Sean Hayes has done nothing to dissuade this opinion.

(Not only am I not anyone's pet homo, I also refuse to wear a collar. )

I'm nobody's "pet homo," but I have a lot of female friends, both straight and lesbian.
We can sit for a while and talk about
The things that bring you down
Like heaven and martini's
And boys that hang around
If if told you my biggest secret
Would you promise me you'd stay?
It isn't what you're thinking
It's simple in a way

I have a few female friends. Only one that I'd call a fag hag. Most of my female friends are lesbians. In fact if I wasn't gay I'd probably be a dyke tyke. haha

But when it comes to the whole "pet homo" issue, I think that a good fag hag isn't like that. They're not "I want a gay friend because they'r be so fun to shop with!!" The good fag hags just like hanging around gay men. Well least one kind of gay man. I don't think that there are to many fag hags that are aware of the SA men. It's just not on they're raydar. Although my fag hag does. haha

And I don't think to many fag hags hang out with bears either.

They want the stereotypical "best girlfriend" type of guy. The straightacting guys won't be as much fun.

Are you having a bad day? You're usually witty, not snarly. The saying "who cares" and "I'm disinterested" and also the eye roll thing seems unlike you. You have always been the role model of tact, diplomacy, and irrepressible humor. If things aren't going well, I sincerely hope they get better, so we can get the real furface back! :D

I undeniably have one absolute fag hag best friend, but we were best friends before she ever knew I was gay.

Our relationship was so, so, so close that it bordered on outright dependent on each other. Thank God we addressed that and made an effort to give each other some space. But to this day we are still the biggest "Will and Grace" couple ever. We went on a 10 day tour of Cali together, and everyone probably thought we had been married for 50 years.

If anyone listen to the SavageLove Cast then you can actually hear us together on the "Fag Hag" episode where Dan brought to light our problem.

That's true.

I was just speaking generally. In general (at least in my own observations) I don't think that fag hags have SA men on their raydar. That's not neccesarily a "bad" thing, because on one hand we all have certain prefrances for chooseing our friends. but on the other hand it's an indicator of how the rest of "the community" views us, were just not there.
